About Us
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is responsible for preserving, protecting and enhancing Wisconsin's natural resources. This includes the management of the state’s fish and wildlife, forests, and air and water resources for future generations. The DNR also oversees the Wisconsin State Park System and manages other state-owned lands to provide quality outdoor recreation opportunities for a variety of uses.
DNR staff work closely with local communities, other state and federal government agencies and partners to protect Wisconsin’s precious natural resources. These dedicated staff members oversee public outreach, education and critical environmental work that contributes to Wisconsin’s overall environmental health.
Learn more about the DNR online or stop by a local DNR service center to talk with staff, purchase hunting, fishing or trapping licenses, get state park vehicle admission passes or trail passes, and learn more about environmental resources and recreation opportunities available in your community.
